What ASE Certification means for YOU

You’ve probably seen the signs up at American Five Star Auto Repair & Transmission for ASE-certified technicians. Have you ever wondered what exactly that means, and why it’s important to you, as a car owner? ASE stands for Automotive Excellence. It’s a professional certification board that serves as the U.S. standard for competence in auto repair. The certification creates a standard by which technicians can be measured and independently approved. The board uses 50 separate tests to evaluate the skill and knowledge of an applicant for different types of vehicles. When you bring your car to a shop for repairs, a mechanic doesn’t need to be ASE-certified to work on your car. All a mechanic needs is your approval to begin.
